Frequently asked questions about acupuncture
Is the practice open in the lockdown from December 19, 2021?
Locations where contact professions for the purpose of care are exercised may remain open. My practice is part of the Wkkgz, which is why the treatments can continue.
What is the Wkkgz?
The government wants everyone to receive good care and that is why it is laid down in law what good care exactly means, this is stated in the Healthcare Quality, Complaints and Disputes Act (Wkkgz).
What is the protocol regarding the coronavirus and a visit to the acupuncture studio?
The trade union has clearly defined hygiene rules. Then think of washing your hands when you enter and for me disinfecting materials and ventilating the space when you are away. Would you like to bring your own two large towels? One to lie on and one to lie under. If you have symptoms such as coughing or fever, you can't come by. Download the protocol here. Before each acupuncture consultation I ask you some questions.
What is Acupuncture?
Energy (qi) circulates in the body via meridians, that is, via the energy channels that run in the body. By pricking the needle, an acupuncturist can influence the movement of qi in the body. If necessary, this can be strengthened or slowed down, so that the body regains an energetic balance.
What is the effect of acupuncture?
Acupuncture encourages the body to heal itself naturally. Acupuncture improves the functioning of the body, especially the "cooperation" between different organs in the body. Acupuncture is used for illness, pain management and if you have too little energy. The treatment consists of pricking thin needles at very precise "acupuncture points" in the skin. Acupuncture is holistic, that is: It not only resolves one complaint, but it has an effect on the whole person.
Do you have to believe in it?
No, you don't have to. Trust in your therapist supports the treatment, as this strengthens the healing process.
For what type of complaints is acupuncture most commonly used?
Acupuncture is used for pain complaints, the recovery of injuries or illness, but also preventively to prevent disease. In Chinese medicine, of which acupuncture is a part, we treat not only the complaint but also the cause. >>>Here is a list of common conditions that are treatable with acupuncture.
Does an acupuncture treatment hurt?
Acupuncture treatment doesn't hurt. When inserting the needle, you feel a small prick the moment the needle passes through the skin. The needles used are thin and they are pricked very precisely at special acupuncture points. The needles are placed in such a way that the energy flow is optimized and also that it brings relaxation.
You may feel a shock after insertion and when moving the needle. Acupuncturists call that the qì and this means that the needle does its job.
Are the needles sterile?
All needles are used once and are sterile packed before use.
How long does a consultation take?
Each consultation takes about an hour.
On average, 3 to 5 consultations are needed to start to notice results. Depending on the duration of your complaint and factors such as fitness and lifestyle, more or fewer treatments may be needed to resolve your complaints. Together we will discuss whether continuation of the treatments makes sense and/or which therapy is wisest in your case.
What does a consultation cost?
The price of a consultation is 75, -
Are the treatments reimbursed?
Acupuncture is almost always reimbursed with supplementary insurance. This fee is not at the expense of the excess.
