Someone asked me: “Does acupuncture work if you don’t believe in it?” I had to laugh really hard at that question. Yes, even then an acupuncture treatment works. You often notice an immediate effect.
Scientific proof
There is more scientific evidence about the effectiveness of acupuncture. For example in the treatment of sports injuries, for back pain or insomnia. But also for anxiety, depression, migraine, joint complaints and infertility.
Recent studies in Germany and Australia show that when acupuncture is used prior to an I.V.F. trajectory, the chance of conception is 50% greater. This was compared with a study group that did not receive acupuncture.
The documentary above shows how acupuncture can be used. With a clear explanation of its effectiveness and its scientific basis.
Is it more expensive than going to the doctor or a hospital treatment?
Modern healthcare and also acupuncture therapy, focuses on prevention, natural support and lifestyle advice. Acupuncture balances the body-mind system and increases your resistance. What is the investment you want to make to be healthy in body and mind?
You immediately experience what a treatment does for you. More peace of mind, less pain, a better night’s sleep and a reduction in complaints. The effect of acupuncture is often immediately noticeable.
An acupuncture consultation takes about 60 minutes and costs 75,-. The health insurance often reimburses part of this amount. This reimbursement is not at the expense of the deductible.
The number of treatments varies. On average, five to six treatments are needed and I can explain my expectations well. You do not need a referral from your GP for an acupuncture treatment.
Incidentally, acupuncture does not disrupt the trajectory in which you are currently being treated. An example is that during cancer treatment, the negative side effects (fatigue, headache, weakened digestion) of chemotherapy or radiation can be alleviated by acupuncture.
Afraid of needles?
Some people have a phobia of being pricked. I think fear of needles is one of the reasons not to try acupuncture. Pain may be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of acupuncture. But an acupuncture treatment does not hurt.
In my clinic I have treated several people with a fear of needles. I am very careful and attune to the client to make the treatment as stress-free as possible.
The needles that are used are not like the needles used for an injection or with which blood is drawn. Acupuncture needles are very thin. Inserting the needles is not painful and every client in my clinic can confirm that eventually the effect is very relaxing.
A holistic approach
When dealing with a complaint, an acupuncturist looks at the whole person. This approach is called holistic. I’m not treating the complaint only but I search for the pattern and its cause. A treatment can be used for your entire being: on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
Still unsure?
If you’ve never had acupuncture treatment before, acupuncture can seem mysterious, exciting or terribly painful. But it’s not like that. Book your first appointment in my clinic. Make sure you get the support you deserve, I’ll be happy to help you.
